AIM:MATHEMATICS

At AIM Federation, our mathematics curriculum equips children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become effective problem solvers. We focus on fluency, reasoning and the practical application of maths in everyday life. Through engaging lessons, hands-on activities and real-world examples, we encourage children to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Our approach ensures that every child progresses at their own pace, mastering the skills they need to succeed in future learning.

Building strong foundations for lifelong problem solvers.

AIM Mathematics

Mathematics is an essential subject that underpins many aspects of life. It is a subject of logic, creativity and problem-solving that helps children make sense of the world around them. A strong foundation in mathematics equips children with the ability to think critically, reason logically and approach challenges with confidence. At the heart of our teaching is a commitment to developing mathematical fluency, conceptual understanding, and the skills needed to apply knowledge in a variety of contexts.

Our mathematics curriculum aligns with the National Curriculum for England, ensuring that children are taught the full breadth of knowledge and skills required at each stage. Lessons are carefully structured to build understanding in manageable steps, helping children master both the fundamentals and more complex concepts.

What do we do...

Cohesion

Mathematics is taught as a connected subject, where different areas of learning are interwoven. By showing children the links between concepts such as number, measure, and geometry, we help them develop a cohesive understanding of mathematics. This approach encourages children to see mathematics as a whole rather than isolated topics.
